|
You're a team of three registered nurses who work in an oncology community clinic. You are triaging patients as they arrive for their visit with the provider. Mr. S., a terminally ill pancreatic cancer patient from Japan, arrives with several family members to talk about end-of-life and palliative care. Several of the family members express concern about the strong narcotics Mr. S. has been prescribed, and are concerned about him becoming addicted.
What will your team do ... What evidence will you find ... to convince the family members that it is safe and necessary for Mr. S. to have good pain control?
Mr. S. is depending on you and your team so that he may die with dignity and free of pain!
